Director Betsy Glassman is a teacher, learning specialist and writer for thirty years. After stints as a newspaper journalist, editor and photographer, from 1991-2008 she taught in private school learning centers including serving as director of a learning program before starting Words & Pictures. “Ms. G” also works with urban high school students through a non-profit group bringing experienced tutors to DC public schools.
Having both a communications and math/science background with teacher certification in English and science, she is versatile in her teaching abilities and possesses wide-ranging content knowledge. Betsy understands her students’ struggles, can assess their skills without lengthy, expensive batteries of tests, and has developed tried-and-true instructional methods to make academic subjects come alive. She also consults with clients to set up and improve the home learning environment, school learning centers, and business training programs, and evaluates and advises about curricula, assignments and assessments.
Betsy is available for speaking engagements on the subjects of education, teaching and learning.
